Andrea Vazquez-Aguirre is a cross-disciplinary dance artist, and a scholar under Fondo Nacional de la Cultura y las Artes de México (FONCA). She performed with renowned Mexican choreographers such as Rossana Filomarino (Dramadanza), Pilar Urreta (Compania de Artes Transformáticas) and Serafin Aponte (Serafin Aponte Danza). She also served as academic coordinator at the National Conservatory of Dance in Mexico City (ENDCC). She has an MFA from The State University of New York-Brockport. She has served as full-time faculty at Texas A&M International University, The University of Texas at El Paso, Luther College, Friends University and Southern Utah University, and has danced in several professional companies in the United States such as Bill Evans Dance Company, and Geomantics Dance Theater. She is interested in performances that explore the idea of 'truth in fiction’ and ‘fiction in truth.’ She co-directs along with her life partner pianist James Kaufmann, Another River Interdisciplinary Ensemble. She is a founding member of Ars Longa, an international cohort of artists creating artistic and scholarly work between USA, Mexico and Italy.
